Journey to the Centre of the Earth
The original story of ‘Journey To The Centre of the Earth’ written by Jules Verne, set in the 19th century, is transformed into an phenomenal orchestrated spectacle of storytelling dance. This new adaptation brings the classic story into the world of the 1950s, as we follow Otto Lindenbrock, his nephew Axel and Icelandic explorer Hans Bjelke on their journey to the centre of the Earth.
The story begins with Axel in Otto’s home library being bombarded with his uncles excitement of discovering an old map that shows the way to the centre of the Earth. With reluctancy, Axel agrees to join Otto on this adventure, and they set off for Iceland. Once Hans Bjelke joins the expedition in Iceland, the trio follow the maps direction and begin the decend into the inactive volcano; Snæfellsjökull.
As the story progresses, and the characters move further into the depths of the Earth, where the audience and explorers are introduced to strange new creatures and land filled with vibrant colours and glowing lights.
Some creatures cause dangerous situations for the explores, whereas others perform a beautiful display. It is left to the group to navigate themselves through this unnerving underground environment and get themselves home with their expedition findings.
